Dr. Osman Taylan is Professor of Industrial Engineering at King Abdulaziz University where he has been a faculty member since 2003. After obtaining his BSc (with a degree of highest third position in his department) and MSc (Excellent) degrees from Istanbul Technical University, he completed his PhD in Industrial Engineering department at Sakarya University in 1999. For over 25 years, he has been teaching Artificial Intelligence and Fuzzy Logic, Designs of Experiment, Operations Research I and II, Industrial Quality Control, Engineering Statistics, Business Forecasting, Engineering Economy and Quality Engineering courses.

Prof. Taylan has published more than ninety professional papers in machine learning, adaptive neuro-fuzzy systems, quality control, MCDM, energy systems, and information systems in high impact international journals. He has collaborated actively with researchers in several disciplines such as civil and mechanical engineering, energy systems, and particularly in food science for adulteration research and quality improvement. He participated actively in forty research projects and wrote the two chapters of a book entitled ‘Global Advances in Engineering Education, published by Taylor & Francis Group, in 2019.’  His current research interest covers advanced intelligent systems, energy systems, fuzzy multi criteria decision making, designs of experiment, and fuzzy mathematics.

Prof. Taylan divides time between Turkey for his summer vacation and Saudi Arabia for teaching and research. He enjoys jogging, playing tennis, swimming, and other outdoor activities. He is busy with his two cute but noisy parakeets these days.
